Öhlins Racing enjoyed a fruitful first event in partnership with the Red Bull Pro Nationals MX series at Landrake this weekend, with success both on and off the track.
The Cornwall circuit was blessed with good weather creating an enjoyable atmosphere for riders and spectators to enjoy some great racing, including a double win in the ‘Pro’ class for Öhlins runner Stephen Sword. The Tyco TAS Suzuki rider was on top form after switching to the Swedish suspension brand at the beginning of the year and benefitting from some one-to-one set-up prior to the event.
The Tyco squad was just one of several teams running Öhlins products, including young ace Kristian Whatley (PAR Honda) plus up and coming riders from the smaller capacity classes.
The Öhlins service unit in the form of FTR Suspension was busy throughout the weekend in the paddock explaining the benefits of good quality suspension, servicing components and helping with bike set-up. The FTR presence is part of a wider Öhlins - Red Bull three-year partnership, as the company looks to support UK motocross.
Chris Witter, Business Development Manager, Öhlins Racing UK commented, “It was a great opening weekend for the series and we were certainly happy both with Swordy’s results and the amount of interest we received from riders in every class. FTR are doing an excellent job of putting the Öhlins name out there in the world of motocross, where good suspension can make such a massive difference to lap times and fatigue.
We were also very interested to hear the organiser’s plans for a comprehensive Youth Academy and look forward to working with them on that very worthwhile initiative.
Matt Bates, Red Bull Pro Nationals series organiser added, “We had great feedback from riders and parents that Öhlins is now part of our race paddock, it gives another high-quality partnership for the series that can only benefit all parties.
We look forward to working with FTR and Ohlins to maximise this partnership and crucially ensure that as many riders as possible get to understand the benefits of good bike set-up, something that pro racers such as Stephen Sword are well aware of.”
Öhlins has a wide array of Off-road products including the latest MX forks, steering dampers, TTX44 MKII rear shock plus a new TTX30 shock available very soon to suit smaller bikes from 50cc to 65cc
